Our CVM Ram

Raising sheep was the first step we took when we started farming. Since Leaha is a felt maker, we decided to concentrate on heritage breeds that would provide the highest quality fiber for our value-added products. For the medium to coarse wool needs, such as slippers and rugs, we have colored Icelandic sheep. For the fine wool needs, for making hats and garments, we chose the California Variegated Mutant (CVM) which is a colored Romeldale. The CVM is an American Breed of sheep which is now a critically listed endangered species according to the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy. Therefore, we are excited to be a part of helping to bringing this breed back from the verge of extinction.

Then the wool turns into hats and flowers for clips or headbands. We take them to market alongside our produce at times.
